Mix-it up day

All students wore a "bandera" on Mix-it Up Day. All of the flags were from Spanish speaking countries. Can you pick out the "bandera" from your country on the list below?

¿Eres tú chico o chica?

Starting in Kindergarten students should be able to tell you if they are a chico (boy) or a chica (girl). You will also see words like "amigo" with an "o" or "a" at the end.

Mi boda :)

Did you know that I'm getting married in diez días (10 days)?! In Spanish a wedding is called "una boda." After I get married you won't call me Señorita Yapp anymore. You will call me Señora Severson.

La Oruga

Students in grades 1-4 are creating "una oruga." Our oruga (caterpillar) grows by learning new words in Spanish. Look closely at the photo...a word can only be added if it starts with the last letter of the word before it. Words added by first graders are anaranjado, second graders are amarillo, third graders are verde, and fourth graders are azul. Later in the year kindergarten will help us too. The students create an illustration to go with the words we learn and add. Our oruga is really growing... another photo coming soon!
